The night before his birthday, I had a ridiculous dream, I dreamt I made a HUGE pot (the kind they use at Indian Weddings) of Tiramisu, and my brother-in-law was using a spade to eat through it, on the side though was a mountain of sponge fingers that I had forgotten to layer the Tiramisu with. So he had the sponger fingers in the other hand, and he was dipping them directly into the Tiramisu.
Indians believe that if you remember and talk about your dream, it won’t happen; especially useful to dispel nightmares. When I told my husband about my Tiramisu dream, he was incredibly upset that I told him, knowing that it won’t come true now!
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 250g mascarpone
- 2 cups hot water, 5 tsp coffee powder, 1.5 shot glasses Mozart (or a mix of Mozart and Coffee Liqueur)
- 1 capful Mozart for cream
- Pavesini biscuits (a slim version of Savioardi – which also work in this recipe)
- Small block chocolate (grated)
Beat egg yolks with sugar until thick and white. This will take at least 15 minutes. Add the mascarpone and beat until just combined and smooth. Add 1 capful Mozart and beat again until combined.
In a clean bowl, whisk egg whites until thick and stiff and gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
Combine coffee with liqueurs. Quickly dip biscuits, a few at a time, into coffee mixture.
Layer biscuits into individual glass bowls or a large glass bowl, alternately with the mascarpone cream. Refrigerate for 2-3 hrs or longer, preferably. Finish by sprinkling gratied chocolate over the top.
