Coconut chutney

This is an easy coconut chutney that will go beautifully with idli or vadas. I served it with rice vadas. Leftover chutney can be used for mozh kuzhambu.

You’ll need:

  • 3/4 cup fresh or frozen grated coconut (not desiccated)
  • 4 green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 10 mint leaves
  • 1 stalk coriander
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 1 dried chilli (cut into small pieces)
  • 4 curry leaves (cut into small pieces)
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • Pinch of hing

Method:
Blend coconut, chillies, mint, coriander, ginger and tamarind into a thick paste. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and hing. Once seeds start to pop, add curry leaves and dried chilli. Add to coconut paste, add salt to taste. Enjoy!
